Synopsis On the prestigious oCCasion of the one-hundredth anniversary of the Corriere dello Sport, one of the most widely-read daily newspapers in Italy, the documentary explores the deep essence of sports, a veritable social and cultural collector, and the evolution in the they are practiced and reported. COMMENTARY The story unfurls from a double perspective: on the one hand, it gives a voice to the great athletes and protagonists of Italia sports; on the other, it documents the foundation, production and distribution of the newspaper, a veritable archive of our country’s collective memory. The result is a powerful and compelling aCCount in which stories and anecdotes are destined to remain eternal, to shape the way that Italians experience and celebrate their sporting passions. DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT For 100 years, the print media have been part of the history of our country, like in many other countries in the world, offering daily information, stories and anecdotes to millions of readers. What would sports be without information? Would sports legends be created if no one was there to tell their story?
The documentary takes us on a journey through the life and career of Emil Steinberger. The comedian talks about the confines of his childhood, his great suCCesses and the downsides of fame. Interviews with him and fellow companions such as Franz Hohler and Bänz Friedli alternate with scenes of his most humorous performances. Finally, he also tells the moving love story between him and his wife NiCCel. The film is a tribute to the comedian Emil, bringing us closer to the person behind the figure that has been present for a century and who has brought joy to many generations.
Mother’s household ledgers contain a lifetime of arduous years. While her memory fades as she grows older, the details of her daily life, meticulously recorded in the household ledgers for 48 years since 1969, remain as traces of her existence. Director Seong Seungtaek discovered these ledgers among his elderly parents’ belongings when they moved in together after 30 years apart. Carefully examining those records, which are both precious documentation of his family history and his mother’s intimate diary, the director creates another important historical document. As Mother’s Household Ledger gradually intertwines the family story with modern Korean history and their shared memories, our hearts are profoundly stirred. The mother wrote down the passage of time, and the son now illuminates the world imbued with that time.

2.0分 Ryan Murphy dropped a teaser for a new series titled Grotesquerie in an Instagram post (see it below) on Friday. ACCording to the post, it will star Niecy Nash-Betts — who has worked with Murphy several times before and is coming off an Emmy win for Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story — Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville and is set to premiere in the fall. The teaser features Nash-Betts’ voice, sounding very disturbed about a crime scene: “I don’t know when it started. I can’t put my finger on it. But it’s different now. There’s been a shift. It’s like something’s opening up in the world — a kind of hole to the center of nothingness. What I saw today — they sent shrinks for everyone who worked this crime scene. You think, ‘Well hon, evil has always existed,’ and cite some statistic about how the world’s getting better, less murder, more help, less global horror, never been a better time to be alive, honey.” Her voice cracking, Nash-Betts (or rather, her character) concludes by saying, “Come back. It’s not getting better. And I keep needing to hear your answers, because something’s happening around us, and nobody sees but me.”
In July 2010, the San Bernardino County authorities were faced with one of the most bizarre crime scenes they’d ever encountered. Alerted by a concerned friend, local police arrived at the victims’ home, and the murders they discovered shook them to the ground. The crime scene showed ritualistic aspects, and quickly, one of the detectives recognized a symbol painted on the ceiling in the victims’ blood linking back to a serial killer they’d chased in 1995, before the killer seemingly took a 15-year break.

This film is a very personal aCCount of moments lived by the director with her father. A personal aCCount, yet told with the proper distance, in that cinema is ever-present between father and daughter: as a passion, a life choice, and a way of being in the world. Cinema as a web that underlies the story of their exchanges and creates a space for imagination. “With cinema,” the father says, “you can escape. With your own mind”. Images are sparked by memories and like memories amplify a few notable markers while erasing others. Spare images, where there is hardly anything other than the two of them, and the marker that is present always has something monstrous about it: large things are exceptionally large; distant things are incredibly far; sunbeams are ablaze; nearby things are much too close. As for the movie sets, however, everything is in excess: confusion, urgency, people, noise—and everything here is also amplified. In these sets is the thrill of communal life. The ones featured in the film are those of PinoCChio, built in the middle of nowhere in the barren countryside.
Bologna, 1940s. A mentally troubled young man with literary aspirations falls deeply in love with an American army auxiliary after a simple glance.
