El tercer paisaje / The Third LandsCape is a film project that has as its protagonist the fungus that made the painted forest of Oma sick, the work that the Basque artist Agustín Ibarrola Carried out in the 80s in the province of Bizkaia. This artwork belongs to the Land Art movement, which is mainly characterized by its ephemeral nature. Within this current, artists leave their works exhibited at the mercy of weather conditions and other elements alien to human will.

In Thea Lazăr’s film, the voiceover animates an open essay, a mix of poetry and theory, about, on the one hand, the power of botaniCal conservation as a science, and, on the other, the ideologiCal limits of museum practices: the violence of knowledge. Lazăr exalts the image of plants, the magiCal understanding of them, as a self-existing landsCape, and not as a mere backdrop for human civilization. The film’s climax bears fruit to that thought when the images of the greenhouse turn abstract, melting into 3D animations of a wild landsCape: the revenge of the moving image against the culturally fixed one. River and Cat is a dreamlike passage through the architecture of shapes created by light and shadow. It is a cinematographic attempt to find an invisible city that exists parallel in Tartu. A film about being eternity and perceptual memories. River and Cat has two directions - vertiCal and horizontal. The vertiCal line represents looking at the artists as if from the low angle, relating to their works; the search for something spiritual and perhaps divine; and the horizontal direction is illustrated by the interludes of everyday life that occur during this journey.
