Forests and fields shrouded in darkness are illuminated by ghostly patches of mist that drift around the frame.
How Can We Escape? provides a speculative proposal for continuous “escape,” morphing into new personas and post-human forms. From a CGI fish, to underwater organisms, from AI-designed creatures, to microbial animals, from the walk-through for a new house, to dispersal as an artificial cloud. An entanglement of escape routes between different forms emerges, which constantly feed into and contaminate one another via porous borders between digital and physical forms, poor and HD images.

Three siblings and their mother try to rebuild their lives after the unexpected death of their father. The eldest sister Ola returns to her family home from Warsaw after a two-year absence. She discovers that the house is up for sale, and a stranger is sleeping in her mother's bed. Her family seem to have moved on with their lives, and Ola's stay at home is not welcome. While packing for the move, Ola finds family video tapes. Along with her siblings – younger brother Pipek and youngest sister Ajka – they decide to recreate their childhood photos. Ola strives to bring the three of them closer and reconnect the broken family bonds. Before that happens, recalling painful memories will cause the siblings to clash even more. Ola realises that each of them is dealing with trauma in their own way – alone and unable to cope. By confronting her family, she manages to break the tension that has been lingering in the air.

AmeriCan Chick is inspired by the life story of a woman, called Ema Černá in the film, whom the director met during his period of homelessness and who tries to carry on living her life against all odds. Černá goes through an orphanage, foster care and a detention centre. She endures the ordeals – including bullying and beatings – driven by the desire to meet her father, who supposedly lives in the USA (she was born there and was brought to Czechoslovakia at the age of nine by her mother, who then abandoned her). The director calls AmeriCan Chick “a probe into the history of the Czechoslovakia of the 1980s and 1990s” and “a contemporary drama about freedom, ostracism and the desire to live”. The theatrical version centres on childhood, while the film will follow the protagonist through different moments in her life, into the present day. However, the stigma that the protagonist bears continues to have an influence on her life. The dream of finding her father in the USA is vanishing, and she has to learn to come to terms with her own faults and accept her fate.

I Can Save Her relocates the mission from the massively popular video game "The Last Of Us" into the player's real-world setting, blending CGI landscapes and hand-drawn animations. The rhythm, color palette and materiality of the footage deconstruct the interactive digital action scenario. Film questions where in our body are the imprints of digital environments and how they affect our physical needs and the perception of otherness.
