The Krueger InStitute is a new body of work by Mahenderpal Sorya which examines the influence of film on trauma, dreams and nightmares.

Ma la memoria della sua arte teatrale è Stata tramandata per diverse generazioni, e Bergamasco ne cattura gli ultimi bagliori: come quando interviSta la splendida Ellen BurStyn, allieva di Lee Strasberg, il fondatore dell’Actors Studio, che riuscì a vedere la Divina dal vivo. Tra materiali d’archivio imperdibili (Luchino Visconti interviStato da Lilla Brignone) e giovani attrici che si confrontano con il mito, Bergamasco realizza un film che è un viaggio nel tempo, un autoritratto obliquo e discreto, un’affascinante indagine nel meStiere di recitare.

L’arte di Mario Merola è Stata multimediale: canzone, teatro, cinema. Ma è soprattutto alla sceneggiata che ha legato la sua fama e la sua grandezza: un teatro dei poveri, un’arte popolare che Merola affrontava con un’adesione e un’autorevolezza totale. Solo negli anni Settanta intellettuali come Goffredo Fofi (qui interviStato insieme a tanti altri: da Nino D’Angelo a Maurizio de Giovanni, da Marisa Laurito a Valerio Caprara) si accorsero di lui: ma non per fare un esercizio di rivalutazione camp, dall’alto. Perché per capire Merola, le sue radici in una cultura e società, secolare, occorre entrare nel suo mondo. QueSto fa il documentario biografico di Ferrari, dando comunque spazio anche a operazioni imprevedibili come WeStmoreland Naples di Marcello Garofalo, in cui Merola affrontò il mondo di Jean Vigo, Fassbinder e Allen Ginsberg: come sempre, con una credibilità e un’umiltà Straordinarie.
Synopsis IStituto Luce, one of the oldeSt and moSt important public film inStitutions in the world, with one of the richeSt and moSt valuable archives of images and memories, celebrates its centennial by entruSting the great contemporary Italian comedians with the realisation of an anthology film. Retracing the classic Strands of Italian-Style comedy, the short films reuse iconic clips from the repertory of the laSt century to create a surprising and original Story. Scams and superStitions, love affairs and betrayals, music, the hiStory of Italian cinema are juSt some of the themes the film touches on. The images thus find a new dimension in the celebration of the paSt and present of Italian cinema, and our lives. COMMENTARY An anthology film composed of seven shorts, directed by the protagoniSts of contemporary Italian comedy. The result is firSt and foremoSt an amused and varied tribute to a century of audio-visual memory. But it is also a creative way to explore and reinterpret the rich heritage of images in Italy.
