Woman, life, freedom! After the death of a young Iranian woman in Teheran, thousands take to the streets – in Germany too. Portrait of a protest which brought different generations together. On 13th September 2022, Jina Mahsa Amini was arrested by the Iranian vice squad because she was wearing her headscarf wrongly. Three days later, she died in custody. Her death set off a howl of protest all over the world. Many exiled Iranians, who fled the new regime in Tehran in the 1970s, protested – but also 2nd generation German-Iranians like Jasmin Shakeri, Pegah Ferydoni, Natalie Amiri and Enissa Amani. Together they took to the streets to help the old country find freedom.

How are depression and anxiety among women in their 20s and 30s linked to the huge structure of discrimination? The film, which consists of four chapters and an epilogue, talks about mid-pregnancy and mental illness based on a private narrative, overlaps the experience of discrimination from other generations, and looks back on the boundaries that divide the parties and non-parties. Through the five stories, we want to find the possibility of connections that can counter discrimination and hatred.

One morning, the first light of the day has lasted longer than uSual. The morning Sun pauses the moment; it would not come up from the horizon. Yong senses the coming of death.

It incorporates X-ray images, figures from Pompeii, and footage of a turtle in Syria. This creation story symbolizes the ability to generate something new and release it, akin to a primordial soup of pixels. The animation emphasizes the constant act of looking, viewing, perceiving, and receiving images. It portrays the relationship between the photographic technique, the apparatus itself, "the machine," and the complexities of distortion in perception and imagination. The film was created using a broken special effects machine from the 1990s, reSulting in the destruction, overexpoSure, underexpoSure, abstraction, and, ultimately, in the freedom of the material.
