Zoé Rivemale films the making of Dans la peau de Blanche Houellebecq, a shoot in which she is also second assistant director. The position allows her to capture everything; to recount the anecdotes, the encounters, the jokes, but above all the work of the film crew. It’s a behind-the-scenes look that’s just as funny as the original; a fascinating glimpse into Guillaume Nicloux's working methods (L'enlèvement de Michel Houellebecq, Prix spécial du jury Temps Ø in 2014, Valley of Love, Thalasso, etc.) and the unlikely artistic match of Houellebecq and Gardin. Above all, however, it is a study of the entire technical team, working tirelessly behind the scenes, revealing how such a film is made. Sa-rang (Jang Sun) is deeply in love with Cheol-su (Lee Yoojun), who visits the pharmacy where she works every day. Unfortunately, Cheol-su’s heart is completely taken by Jong-hui (Han Haein), the pharmacist and Sa-rang’s cousin. With misaligned and unreachable hearts and gazes, I Am Love is a poignant and desperate love story about unreciprocated affection and the fever of unrequited love, a melancholic elegy of love. Despite the anguish, it is also a love hymn dedicated to those captivated by love who vow to love even more, never knowing how to give up. Struggling to express her feelings verbally, Sa-rang instead uses the love poetry of W.H. Auden as a guide for her life, becoming absorbed in the tragic circumstances of a woman named ‘Love’ who fell into a tragic incident because of her affection. Sa-rang is overwhelmed by love. How far can this love go? In the end, will Sarang find the serene comfort, akin to a state of vacuum, she has long sought?

Woman, life, freedom! After the death of a young Iranian woman in Teheran, thousands take to the streets – in Germany too. Portrait of a protest which brought different generations together. On 13th September 2022, Jina Mahsa Amini was arrested by the Iranian vice squad because she was wearing her headscarf wrongly. Three days later, she died in custody. Her death set off a howl of protest all over the world. Many exiled Iranians, who fled the new regime in Tehran in the 1970s, protested – but also 2nd generation German-Iranians like Jasmin Shakeri, Pegah Ferydoni, Natalie Amiri and Enissa Amani. Together they took to the streets to help the old country find freedom.
This animation highlights the technological remnants of what is left behind. It is a simplistic creation consisting of color and rhythm. It incorporates X-ray images, figures from Pompeii, and footage of a turtle in Syria. This creation story symbolizes the ability to generate something new and release it, akin to a primordial soup of pixels. The animation emphasizes the constant act of looking, viewing, perceiving, and receiving images. It portrays the relationship between the photographic technique, the apparatus itself, "the machine," and the complexities of distortion in perception and imagination. The film was created using a broken special effects machine from the 1990s, resulting in the destruction, overexposure, underexposure, abstraction, and, ultimately, in the freedom of the material.
