Born in 1986 in Magnitogorsk. He received a higher education as a process engineer. He studied to be a director at the Higher Courses of screenwriters and Directors (workshop of I.M. Kvirikadze and A.M. Dobrovolsky). He worked as a journalist in the publications "Bulletin of the film distributor" and "Variety Russia".
Moon-young works as a railroad conductor in Seoul. The accidents and their aftereffects that she witnesses as a conductor are hard to endure, and she doesn’t get along with people. One day, she receives a call from a friend and decides to visit her hometown, which she has been trying to forget. Sang-woo works as a teacher at an elementary school. He follows the traces of Moon-young who left for her hometown. There is a quiet tension that lingers throughout the film. The two stories of Moon-Young’s and Sang-woo’s journeys are two similar forms. Moreover, within this symmetrical structure, fascinating cracks of memory and illusion permeate asymmetrically, sometimes intensely, sometimes subtly, drawing us into the realm of curiosity. The Waves of Winter is a meticulous psychological drama that delves deeply into the characters’ inner selves and an illusory road movie that makes us newly aware of time and ourselves.
Based on Elisa Shua’s novel of the same name (awarded America’s 2021 National Book Award), the story unfolds in Sokcho, a small seaside town in South Korea, where 23-year-old Soo-Ha leads a humdrum life. The arrival of a French man called Kerrand in the boarding school where she works stirs up questions over her own identity. As Winter envelops the town, they observe one another, size each other up and form a fragile bond… The film will also include animated sequences made by Agnès Patron.

To win the hand of the caliph of Bagdad’s daughter (played by Julanne Johnston), a thief (Fairbanks) embarks on a dangerous and mystical journey to secure the most desirable treasure imaginable. The film was a popular success, and Fairbanks made women swoon as one of the screen’s first superstars. Known for his dashing demeanour and incredible stunts, Fairbanks, who would also routinely contribute to the scripts of his films under the pseudonym Elton Thomas, actually created the story for this version of The Thief of Bagdad and included types of special effects and production design never previously seen by audiences. The film was remade several times, of which the most notable is the 1940 British film directed by Ludwig Berger, Michael Powell, and Tim Whelan.
