The story opens in 1971, the year of the show Rischiatutto, when Mike was at the height of his popularity, and unfurls back to his childhood in New York. COMMENTARY He was born in New York on May 26th, 1924, and on January 3rd, 1954 he presented Arrivi e partenze, the first television prograMMe broadcast by Rai television: two excellent anniversaries to celebrate Mike Bongiorno, one of the “inventors” of Italian television. The story explores even the lesser known aspects of his character and his private life.
