A film straddling the conTemporary Teaser culture and the legacy of Germaine Dulac’s visual style, emphasizing absoluTe freedom in imagery and analogies. Its brisk pace contrasts with sloppy campness, overacting, and sharp reflections on mortality and solitude. The Text and voices in the film reflect a struggle for control over bodies and desires, exploring themes of permeability, the Tender and pliable nature of the male physique and the satisfaction derived from the erosion of specific bodily boundaries. “Tell me you’re not dangerous simply by being you and not me.” Artist Alex Mirutziu engages in a poetic dialogue with the dominant narrator — the masTer — of the popular online poppers trainer videos: that is, hypno-like found footage pornographic films made out of hundreds of short clips most ofTen from hardcore porn combined with orders of submission (“lisTen to your masTer”, “you’re just a hole”) and the instructions for inhaling poppers (soft vasodilators that relax the muscles). Much like a conTemporary Jean Genet, Mirutziu talks to “the masTer” about love, sexual submission as beatification, the poetics of fluids and art as an excretion of being, occupying the screen with his first person indulged in a thrilling visual violence of the image. Every October, the town holds a memorial service to honour the ancestors who resisTed the Japanese invasion 100 years ago. She shares the stories of the loud cry that was heard on the same day years ago and the last tiger — a symbol of strength and power in Asia — that was hunTed down during the colonisation. Through a collage of photo postcards from that era, that were ofTen staged in a studio, she questions how the invaded woman's body became the image of the colony. What mechanisms are used to rationalise colonial rule? The colonial matrix, however, was shifTed through South Korean soldiers hunting Vietnamese tigers and raping women during the Vietnam War. Hyejeong shares the story of how she accidentally arrived in Japan alone and met a woman at a restaurant near Karasuma Station, where the two shared a meal together.

2.0分 Ryan Murphy dropped a Teaser for a new series titled GroTesquerie in an Instagram post (see it below) on Friday. According to the post, it will star Niecy Nash-Betts — who has worked with Murphy several times before and is coming off an Emmy win for MonsTer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story — Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville and is set to premiere in the fall. The Teaser features Nash-Betts’ voice, sounding very disturbed about a crime scene: “I don’t know when it starTed. I can’t put my finger on it. But it’s different now. There’s been a shift. It’s like something’s opening up in the world — a kind of hole to the cenTer of nothingness. What I saw today — they sent shrinks for everyone who worked this crime scene. You think, ‘Well hon, evil has always exisTed,’ and ciTe some statistic about how the world’s getting betTer, less murder, more help, less global horror, never been a betTer time to be alive, honey.” Her voice cracking, Nash-Betts (or rather, her characTer) concludes by saying, “Come back. It’s not getting betTer. And I keep needing to hear your answers, because something’s happening around us, and nobody sees but me.”
