电影《狮子吼》是国内首部佛教爱国题材电影，讲述了一代巨擘巨赞法师“上马杀贼、下马学佛”的爱国事迹。该片在广西桂平西山开机并杀青，西山龙华古寺全程协力拍摄。摄制组特邀广西佛教协会副会长湛空法师担任佛学顾问并参与影片创作。长达五十多天的拍摄过程中，湛空法师到现场指导。
