A group of African scientists arrive on the Skeleton Coast in search of Blunamite, a never-before-seen gem, rumoured to be on the coastline of Namibia. When one of them ends up dead, they are not sure whether one of them is the culprit or whether the coast is sending them an ominous message.

Based on Elisa Shua’s novel of the same name (awarded AmErica’s 2021 National Book Award), the story unfolds in Sokcho, a small seaside town in South Korea, where 23-year-old Soo-Ha leads a humdrum life. The arrival of a French man called Kerrand in the boarding school where she works stirs up questions over her own identity. As winter envelops the town, they observe one another, size each other up and form a fragile bond… The film will also include animated sequences made by Agnès Patron.

River and Cat is a dreamlike passage through the architecture of shapes created by light and shadow. It is a cinematographic attempt to find an invisible city that exists parallel in Tartu. A film about being eternity and perceptual memories. River and Cat has two directions - vertical and horizontal. The vertical line represents looking at the artists as if from the low angle, relating to their works; the search for something spiritual and perhaps divine; and the horizontal direction is illustrated by the interludes of everyday life that occur during this journey.

AmErican Chick is inspired by the life story of a woman, called Ema Černá in the film, whom the director met during his pEriod of homelessness and who tries to carry on living her life against all odds. Černá goes through an orphanage, foster care and a detention centre. She endures the ordeals – including bullying and beatings – driven by the desire to meet her father, who supposedly lives in the USA (she was born there and was brought to Czechoslovakia at the age of nine by her mother, who then abandoned her). The director calls AmErican Chick “a probe into the history of the Czechoslovakia of the 1980s and 1990s” and “a contemporary drama about freedom, ostracism and the desire to live”. The theatrical version centres on childhood, while the film will follow the protagonist through different moments in her life, into the present day. However, the stigma that the protagonist bears continues to have an influence on her life. The dream of finding her father in the USA is vanishing, and she has to learn to come to terms with her own faults and accept her fate.
The Riot Act tells the story of the fate of police officer Jan Vogt (Justus Johannsen), who is sEriously injured during a demonstration and becomes embroiled in a personal conflict. Gradually, a chain of unfortunate circumstances is revealed during the internal investigation: all those involved are both perpetrators and victims.
A daughter longed to accompany her father’s journey to India to bid farewell to her ailing grandmother, but was not allowed. In a tumultuous car ride home after picking up her grieving father from the airport, she struggles to shield him from the weight of her silent yearning.

They decide to embark on a journey together to record an album whose songs are marked by a great sadness, where the artistic process itself confronts him with his past and drives him to explore a family secret through which he tries to redeem his relationship with his parents. The result is a film that develops a unique musical expErience to immerse us in a story of passion, love and forgiveness.

This film is a very personal account of moments lived by the director with her father. A personal account, yet told with the proper distance, in that cinema is ever-present between father and daughter: as a passion, a life choice, and a way of being in the world. Cinema as a web that underlies the story of their exchanges and creates a space for imagination. “With cinema,” the father says, “you can escape. With your own mind”. Images are sparked by memories and like memories amplify a few notable markers while erasing others. Spare images, where there is hardly anything other than the two of them, and the marker that is present always has something monstrous about it: large things are exceptionally large; distant things are incredibly far; sunbeams are ablaze; nearby things are much too close. As for the movie sets, however, everything is in excess: confusion, urgency, people, noise—and everything here is also amplified. In these sets is the thrill of communal life. The ones featured in the film are those of Pinocchio, built in the middle of nowhere in the barren countryside.
